Sometimes there's more than you think right at your doorstep.
“Western Faces” is an Australian Backcountry Ski film that explores the relatively unknown potential that exists in a remote part of the high Alpine region of Kosciuszko National Park . Legendary Australian Alpinist and one of the first Australian Mountaineers to Summit Mt Everest, Tim Macartney Snape, leads an ambitious expedition with a talented group of the younger generation Australian and New Zealand freeriders.
This 10 day, self-sufficient trip contains all the ingredients of a true expedition with the aim of showcasing the true potential and world class skiing & Snowboarding in the Australian backcountry.
The conditions in the Australian Alpine are notoriously unpredictable and can be deadly at times. Steep and treacherous faces demand respect but persistence pays off for those who respect the power of the mountains and who are also willing to earn their turns.
Like a lot of adventures, things don’t go to plan and more often than not the reward can be found within the journey and the people around you.
Featuring Tim Macartney-Snape, Anna Segal, Michaela Davis-Meehan, Fraser McDougall and Hank Bilous.
