This short film is about balancing work and play and the pinnacle of every season: spring in Alaska. Working late nights and rallying in the mornings to be on first tram can be super challenging and exhausting but Tami Razinger handles it with grace and doesn’t let it stop her from achieving success on the mountain.
For the last few winters, Tami has been polishing her skills on her sled and making the annual pilgrimage up to Valdez. Winter was off to a slow start in Jackson this year and the snow didn’t really stack up until well into January but Tami’s sights were always set on the big mountains and spines of the great white north.
Thompson Pass is a crazy place. Hundreds of people flock up there every year to camp out in a parking lot right off the Richardson Highway. There are all sorts of camping setups from luxury campers to simple backpacking tents and everything in between. We snowmachine right from the parking lot and get right into the biggest terrain I’ve ever been able to ski. This year I had an epic Thompson Pass season and skied lots of steep exposed lines and I’m thankful for my friends I’ve met at Thompson Pass for showing me the way. It’s the most amazing community I have ever been a part of and that’s what makes it so beautiful.
“This Must Be The Place” shows what Thompson Pass life is like and the epic skiing that’s right out the door.
