“À deux versants” (two-Sided) is Lou Barin’s first post-carere film (5 years in World Cup
and participation in the Olympic Games in Pyongyang in 2018). As well as Cesar Barin
(5th in the Junior World Championships and many victories on the Junior Freeride Tour).
It is directed, filmed and edited by Antonin Rivet their step-brother who grew up with
them for more than 15 years, which reinforces the fraternal aura of the film.
This short film is produced by Jour Blanc Studio created by Julien Regnier and financed
by brands such as The North Face and Izipizi.
In this film, we see Lou and César Barin playing in all aspects of skiing, whether it’s the
track, freeride, backcountry or freestyle. It represents in several parts the different
emotions that siblings may encounter.
Shadows, these dancing silhouettes on white canvas, are first used to represent the
hidden parts of ourselves, the more personal aspects, secrets and mysteries. Our family
follows us wherever we go no matter what, like our shadow...
A symphony of joy and happiness is coming. United by their love for skiing, they crewze
imbuing the atmosphere with laughter and bright smiles.
In the shadow of the mountains hides another aspect of this relationship, a tension settles
between them, creating an anxious and oppressive atmosphere. The images quickly
follow one another as flashes that reflect the agitation and anger that inhabit them. A
darker side exists in family ties.
But fortunately, after the storm comes the good weather... When they are gathered in the
heart of the mountains, a solid complicity guides them. Forged by years of sharing this
common passion, mutual trust is stronger than anything. A family confidence that
translates into a look, an encouragement whispered on the top of the face, the certainty
of being able to count on each other.
Each descent made sounds like an echo of their fraternal connection that resonates in the
mountains to become an expression of this deep love.
