The 4th Backcountry Invitational took place on Saturday 20 January 2024 in the Swiss Alps at Nendaz (Valais).
For the first time, this competition, which saw a selection of the best freeriders and freestylers on the international scene go head-to-head, was broadcast live. The replay can be viewed on our website: https://nendazfreeride.ch/fr/live
With the recent snowfalls providing beautiful powder, the sunshine and the excellent level of the participants, the show was exceptional!
In the men's race, New Zealander Craig Murray, who has several podium finishes on the Freeride World Tour (FWT) to his name, won the competition ahead of Italy's Markus Eder, another big name on the FWT (winner in 2019) and Switzerland's Martin Bender who, at 19, has a promising future ahead of him, having won the 2022 Junior Freeride World Champion title and joined the FWT this season.
In women's skiing, Italy's Arianna Tricomi, the freeride world champion, confirmed her status as favourite by taking first place ahead of Lou Barin and Jennica Folkesson.
