A Hundred Words For Wind follows professional skier Cody Cirillo and photojournalist Matthew Tufts on an unprecedented human-powered ski expedition: a 1,700 km, 35-day cycle?to?ski epic circumnavigating Iceland’s Ring Road.
At the unlikely intersection of endurance cycling and freeride skiing, the film paints a poignant portrait of Iceland’s severe weather and unforgiving landscape, as experienced on two wheels and skis. Amidst blizzards, ice-covered roads, and gale-force winds, the duo searches for fleeting windows to climb and ski 800m couloirs and untouched faces.
Blending raw grit and transparency with beautiful, cinematic footage, the immersive narrative cuts through tropes and stereotypes to deliver a strikingly visceral story of persistence, acceptance, and gratitude. More than a travelogue, it’s a meditation on what it means to travel slowly and truly experience and connect with a place.
