For over twenty years, Vivian Bruchez has pursued a singular vision: to ski all 82 Alpine summits above 4000 meters. A journey built on patience, commitment, friendship and a deep relationship with the mountains.
As the project nears completion, something begins to shift. What started as pure exploration slowly becomes a quest to finish. The desire to complete the list begins to blur the limits Vivian once believed were clear. In the silence and exposure of the high Alps, the mountains become a mirror — reflecting his contradictions, his need to keep going, and his growing awareness of everything waiting below.
Far from traditional stories of conquest, 4000m From Home is an intimate portrait of a man confronting his choices, risk, friendship and the thought of returning home. A mountain film and a personal reflection on what it means to pursue a dream — and what we leave behind to reach it.
